            ahead to the past?

I think it's important to define what I mean by 'moving ahead to the past.'  Many humans immediately want to point to a past of slavery or abject poverty or incredible corruption.  No doubt those things existed back then, but let's not let the things of the past remind us of what we are not now.

I am speaking of a past when a man's word was his bond.  When a handshake sealed the deal.  When Americans were taught better in schools.  When Americans owned homes and cars.  When Americans trusted their neighbors.  When adults ran the world.  I realize that I am speaking of the times when filming was only done in black and white - the time before color.  But needless to say, they existed.

If it was done in the past, it can be done in the present.  It shouldn't be so doggone difficult to own things; to get a good education; to live without fear of neighbors and servants.  It shouldn't be so hard to get help.  Perhaps, the greatest attribute of the past, is that Americans knew we are all family.  And our family is all that we have.

What happened to our physical strength?  What happened to our mental strength?  And our spiritual strength?  Were they left in the past, too?  It's time to bring them forward or it's time for us to turn around and go back.  These were the very things that made our country strong.  And now they appear to be gone.

Why?  Why have these standards been replaced with weaker ones?  Who made that decision?  How is it possible that a civilization can get dumber as time goes on?  Why don't humans care more?  Don't you know that the future of your country is sitting in a classroom right now?  Don't you want to know what your children are being taught?

Should America continue on the path that it is currently moving on, well, I can only think of one movie to mention, Idiocracy.  I didn't think it was a documentary when I first watched it with my dad.

But I do now.

Of Americans, by Americans, for Americans.  Let's do this.
